I just took action on Our Heartfelt Thanks! on AHA's You’re the Cure website.

Dear Theresa,

Thank YOU! Because of all your hard work we have been able to make real progress in our fight for heart healthy and stroke free Massachusetts!

Because of you:

All babies born in Massachusetts hospitals are now screened for congenital heart defects.

More smokers will quit and less kids will start their addiction because of an increased tobacco tax.

Our cities and towns will think about walking & biking when they build or fix roads—we call this “complete streets” and important language was included the Transportation Bond Bill.

Communities will have more access to fresh fruits and vegetables because fresh food financing was in the Environment Bond Bill.

All of these efforts will help make our Commonwealth more heart-healthy and stroke-free! And they only happened because of advocates like you across the state.

Click here to thank your legislators today!

Tell Congress: Healthy School Meals Matter

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote soon on a funding bill that would seriously set-back the progress being made to improve the quality and nutritional value of foods sold in schools. With 90% of schools successfully meeting the common-sense nutrition standards for school meals, we must fight for the progress to continue. Tell your Representative to put children's health before politics!

HELP SCHOOLS MAKE WELLNESS A PRIORITY

Do you think unhealthy foods and beverages should be sold and advertised in schools?  Do you think kids should be able to opt out of physical education during the school day?  Neither do we!  Join us in showing your support for the USDA’s updates to local school wellness policy requirements that will help school districts make nutrition and physical activity cornerstones of a well-rounded education.

TELL CONGRESS: PHYSICAL EDUCATION IS VITAL FOR STUDENTS

Our children should attend regular Physical Education (PE) classes throughout their day just like any other subject. Unfortunately for many children this is not happening. However, the Fitness Integrated with Teaching (FIT) Kids Act can help increase PE in our schools and create more active children. In order for this to happen, Congress needs to hear from you! Take action today!

TELL CONGRESS THAT MEDICAL RESEARCH IS A PRIORITY!

Over the past few years, Medical research done at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has fallen to the mercy of budget negotiations. Constant gridlock and budget cuts have left lifesaving innovations incomplete. However, we have a chance to change this pattern. As we speak, members of Congress are prioritizing issues to be included in the upcoming budget discussions and they need to hear from you! Tell Congress to improve our nation's health by prioritizing medical research!
